Tuesday, April 9, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm New York (EDT) time, Washington, Online: Library of Congress reference librarians Amelia Raines and Julie Stoner will present “An introduction to the LOC’s fire insurance maps.” This orientation session will highlight the background of fire insurance mapping, the Sanborn map collections, and fire insurance maps made by other companies held in their division. They will cover how to search for, download, and interpret Sanborn map sheets. Also covered will be which sheets are available online and the future of digitizing these important resources.
